 About us

Metrodoors, a family run business, a company you can trust. David and Lesley, and of course 'Wilf the Dog', have been helping people with commercial door and window repairs for many years now. With a wealth of knowledge and experience, there is not much they haven't seen. Running their business has given them a great understanding of what a customer requires and pride themselves on a top class service from start to finish.

Coming from a long line of tradition, Dave is a 3rd generation commercial door engineer following in the foot steps of his father and likewise his grandfather before that, so he knows his trade. Starting back in 1984 at 14 he helped out at his fathers door repair business every opportunity he could, mainly school holidays, where he learnt the basic skills needed. At 16 he was trusted to work on projects on his own but as he couldn't drive had to rely on public transport to get about. One such project he remembers was working in Hyde Park barracks. He travelled from East London on the tube, weighed down with his tool bag and other kit. Given a van at 17, complete with the responsibility of training an apprentice, he never looked back. At 18 he got his full security clearance and started working in places like the Home Office and Foreign Office and even gained clearance to work in Buckingham Palace too. Other prestigious locations followed, places like The Dorchester Hotel, The London Stock Exchange, The Indian High Commission and even the home of the Chelsea Pensioners, Royal Hospital, Chelsea.

He remembers the excitement of working at BBC Broadcasting House and even the TV studios at QVC. From Stansted Airport traffic control tower to the blue whale hall in the Natural History Museum, he's had the pleasure of working in some great locations.

Lesley has been involved with the company from the start in various roles mainly clerical, but back in 2015 she took an interest in the actual site visits and engineering roll and became a valid part of the technical team. She now has a wealth of her own experiences that are invaluable to the company. They have also found it incredibly useful to be a male and female combined team as this can really help in certain circumstances. Many of their customers have delicate environments which benefit having both genders in attendance. Schools are a particular area that this situation works well, likewise previous social housing projects have been made easier with both in attendance.
